Physician-supervised weight-loss company celebrates rapid growth; patient success at its annual convention

While many companies struggle to rebuild in a recovering economy, Medi-Weightloss Clinics® founder says his company is expanding.

TAMPA, Fla. – Hundreds of the nation’s top experts specializing in bariatrics, weight management and nutrition gathered in Tampa for Medi-Weightloss Clinics® third-annual owners and physicians convention, which included presentations on the latest obesity and weight management trends, one patient’s amazing weight loss success story, and innovative marketing and operations advancements.

Founder/ CEO Ed Kaloust kicked off the convention weekend by highlighting the rapid growth and success of the company. While many companies are struggling to improve in a recovering economy , Medi-Weightloss Clinics® continues to expand every year since its inception 2005. It currently has 71 clinics in 19 states and hopes to continue expanding.

“Despite the rough economy, Medi-Weightloss Clinics® has grown steadily, carries no debt and is helping America get healthier, one pound at a time,” said Kaloust, who also is a competitive blue-water sailor and compares the sport to the need to be flexible in business, especially in a challenging economy. “As in sailing, in business you can’t change the wind but you can adjust the sails.”

Attendees also listened intently to Jerome Biggars, a patient from Wichita, Kan., who shared his inspirational weight-loss success story. He started the program weighing 493 pounds and lost an inconceivable 293 pounds with the help and support of Medi-Weightloss Clinics®. He also shared his amazing weight loss story as a guest on NBC’s “Today” show when he was inducted into the “Joy Fit Club” on Monday, May 3, 2010.

As he became morbidly obese, Biggars said he was embarrassed by to be seen in public, and would seclude himself from family and friends. When he dropped his sons off at school, he said he always preferred to stay in the car. “I only left my house if it was absolutely necessary and I never went to my sons’ school activities since the schools were multi-level and I knew I couldn’t make it up the stairs,” said Biggars. “Now I attend cydkcling classes each week and feel healthier than ever before; I know I never could have done it without the guidance and support from Medi-Weightloss Clinics®.
