Willie Cornay, M.D.

Dr. W. J. Cornay graduated from LSU School of Medicine in 1982 where he went on to complete his residency in ENT at UAB School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama in 1988. After residency, he began his private practice in ENT at Brookwood Medical Center, where he is currently Chief of ENT. During medical school he studied nutrition under the cardiologist who originated the Sugar Busters diet. His interests in nutrition and wellness have remained throughout his practice, especially in regard to the link between obesity and obstructive sleep apnea. Having seen type II diabetes in his family, and with the help of the Medi-Weightloss Clinics® Program, Dr. Cornay has seen improvements in blood sugar control, cholesterol lowering, and general well being of his patients and family members. He is passionate not only in terms of weight loss in his patients, but educating them in the positive lifestyle that weight loss and control bring.

Marc Routman, M.D.

Dr. Marc Routman graduated from Vanderbilt School of Medicine in 1982 and went on to complete his residency in ENT at LSU School of Medicine in 1988. After practicing ENT for five years in New Orleans, Dr. Routman moved back to his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, and went into practice with Dr. Cornay. After experiencing many sleep apnea patients who do not have successful surgery and are not compliant using their CPAP machines, Dr Routman became interested in weight loss as a treatment for sleep apnea. This sparked his interest in bariatric medicine to the point where it became necessary to have this treatment modality available to his sleep apnea patients with a natural extension to any patients who are obese. This also includes helping with yype II diabetes, hypercholesterolism, and hypertension. These conditions are all generally improved by weight loss.
